The way electricity is generated will undergo fundamental changes in the
future. One reason is that we cannot rely on energy from fossil fuels in the
long term. Opening up of new oil and gas fields and securing energy supplies
from inhospitable and politically unstable parts of the world will become
increasing difficult.
Above all, global climate
change, which is the result of a
steady build-up of greenhouse gases (especially CO2 emissions)
caused by burning fossil fuels,
should make us re-think our energy policies and approaches to renewable energy
technology.
For this and other reasons, European governments make investing in solar panels
financially attractive.
